Guessing which hip-hop artist is going to blow up at any given year is pretty much an impossible task. With that said, these MC‘s are making strides to become great at their craft and 2015-16 could possibly be when they truly shine.
5. Isaiah Rashad
Isaiah Rashad is an unapologetically southerner. His Knoxville, Tennessee grass roots are engraved in his music, but after one listen, you’ll forget all of the stereotypes that surround emcees in the south. For any youthful guy of just 23years old, his first official release, Cilvia Demo, shown lyrical abilities along with a magnetic charm that’s ready for the major leagues. His music doesn’t scream Billboard charts, but individuals are leaning toward his relatable lyrics along with a style filled with vigor and spirt. Signed to Top Dawg Entertainment, the label that gifted us Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q, he is definitely an artist of limitless potential.
4.Mick Jenkins
Mick Jenkins is among the many Windy City prospects delivering a much deeper message in the music and declining to chase radio prestige. His lately launched album, Water[s], engulfed the web for 40 days and 40 nights, otherwise longer. Audience are immersed in clever, thought-invoking artistic expression that you simply can’t help but share.
3. Cozz
In March2014, 21-year-old South Central rapper Cozz launched his music video “Dreams,” and a few months after he’d already signed to J. Cole’s Dreamville label and been skyrocketed in to the national spotlight.
You can hear why. Raw conviction is embedded within every word, and failure isn’t in the vocabulary. Now, together with his debut album, Cozz & Effect, generating steady rotation along with a lengthy listing of approaching tour dates, Cozz appears to seize his chance. As an artist that is motivated to attain his dream and it’s likely to come sooner than later.
2. Junglepussy
Forget Bobby Shmurda or whomever Peter Rosenberg is pushing now: the very best rapper in New York is Junglepussy. We’ve been transfixed through the Brooklyn upstart since she began shedding eye-popping videos (‘Stitches’, ‘Cream Team’), and last year’s Satisfaction Guaranteed lived completely up to it’s title, placing a super-contemporary twist on classic New York rap while taking shots at Rihanna’s temple and the legions of fundamental dudes who she wouldn’t let drink her bathwater. Junglepussy is the real thing – attempt to catch her live this season.
1. Futuristic
Last but certainly not least, Arizona emcee Futuristic has hit 2015 hard. Already performing on the VH-1 Streamy Awards and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Kimmel, the independent rapper has been dropping viral video after viral video. Futuristic has multiple videos on Youtube well passed the multi-millions mark. With 4 albums already under his wing, expect something new from the young lyricist very soon.
